Teaching at the Surgery
We are proud to be a teaching practice, and we work from time to time with medical students and student nurses.
The students are keen to learn, invariably polite and appreciative, but it is entirely optional and if you would prefer not to have a student present please say so; you will be given the opportunity when you book in
Medical Students
All are from the University of Southampton Medical School
Most students are from year three (of a five year course) and will have a knowledge of basic medical sciences
They will be particularly keen to talk to patients to develop history taking skills
Both Dr Humphries and Dr Jones are allocated third year students on a regular basis throughout the university term times
Usually once or twice a year a final year student will be allocated to our practice
These students have more clinical knowledge and skill than third year students and will be keen to refine crucial history, examination and diagnostic skills before the final medical examinations
